Child welfare clinic
Child welfare clinic visits start soon after the mother and the baby are discharged from the hospital. Public health nurse visits the family and after that the family becomes customer of the public health nurse.
The aim of the child welfare is to increase family health and to identify child’s development and growth. Visiting the child welfare clinic is a temporary health check-up and the child gets related investigations and vaccinations.
Public health nurse meets the child and the family about 10 times for the first year and 16 times before child starts school. Doctor will be there for every fifth visit. For every visit child’s growth, weight and height are monitored.
Child welfare visits can be increased according to family’s needs and also psychologist, speech-therapist as well as physiotherapist visits are available.
Child welfare clinics are for 0-6-years-old children.
